{"id":190,"date":"2019-09-12T15:14:48","date_gmt":"2019-09-12T05:44:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sighmon.com\/says\/?p=190"},"modified":"2020-08-08T13:14:44","modified_gmt":"2020-08-08T03:44:44","slug":"repairing-hexa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sighmon.com\/says\/repairing-hexa\/","title":{"rendered":"Repairing Hexa"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>During my time at <a href=\"https:\/\/mod.org.au\">MOD.<\/a> I purchased a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vincross.com\/en\/hexa\">Vincross HEXA<\/a> as part of our robotics education program. It&#8217;s a beautiful six legged robot that can be controlled via a mobile phone app, or their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vincross.com\/en\/mind\">MIND SDK<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fast forward to a couple years down the track, and I&#8217;m now working for <a href=\"https:\/\/renew.acmi.net.au\">ACMI<\/a> on their renewal project, but still miss my old colleagues, museum and robots dearly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When I heard that HEXA wasn&#8217;t charging anymore I jumped at the chance to debug them, and see if I could bring them back to life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I suspect that the batteries and\/or charging circuit might be dead. We had it replaced under warranty once while I was at MOD., so it&#8217;s a likely repeat offender.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Tools<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>My goto tool kit for computer\/phone\/robot repairs is my <a href=\"https:\/\/australia.ifixit.com\/collections\/tools-1\/products\/pro-tech-toolkit\">ifixit toolkit<\/a>. Undoing these and using a sharp tool to prise them open will reveal the batteries. Next step is to buy some replacements to see if the rest of HEXA is still okay, and if the charging circuitry is still alive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While I wait for new batteries to arrive I&#8217;ll see if I can revive the old ones with my <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jaycar.com.au\/universal-professional-balance-charger-discharger\/p\/MB3633\">charger<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Update<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Unfortunately neither the revived old batteries, or the new batteries that I purchased powered up HEXA.
