While we probably won’t have an actual bar, we’ll be attempting to get a liquor license for most nights. The Zine Fair and Academy of DIY are ‘All Ages’ events, so you unfortunately won’t be able to get drunk whilst reading zines or learning out bike repair. Oh well.

FORMAT - THE VENUE

Thanks to our pals at Fringe, this year we’ll have continual access to our very own clubhouse at 145 Hindley Street, which is just opposite the dodgy ‘sports bar’ known as the Rosemont and next to the equally dodgy ‘Crazy Horse’.

We’re attempting to keep the venue open from about three in the afternoon till as late at night as we possibly can from the opening of the Format Festival on Sunday, March 1st to its close on Sunday March 15th. That depends on people volunteering, running events and generally taking part.

Arts funding permitting, the space will house the Chester Carlson Memorial Resource Room – which will basically be a photocopier and a couple of reams of paper made available to zinesters and the like from March 1st.
